ReviewReviewReviewReviewTim Horton's CardDec 2, '07 5:29 PM
for everyone
Category:Other
This falls under "The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread" category. How many times have I been halfway through the long Tim Horton's drive-thru line only to suddenly wonder if I had any change? I check the cup holder, and find I only have a dollar 36...several cents short of an extra-large-two-cream-one-sugar and not even enough for a large. (And what's the point of anything smaller?).

On the way through the drive-thru line a few weeks back, what to my wondering eyes did appear, but an advertisement for a Tim Horton's Reloadable card. With this little wonder, I can be forever at peace with whether or not I have enough change for a Timmies' Coffee. I just pull up, hand the card over to the sullen teenager in the window, and get my coffee. When the card balance comes down to under $5.00, it will automatically re-top itself on my Mastercard.

This loses a star for two reasons. One, it takes a little longer than I expected for them to swipe the card and wait for the receipt showing my current balance. Two, I imagine once I see how much goes off my Mastercard to Tim Horton's, I'll likely be forced to quit my Tim Horton's habit out of guilt.

Until then, swipe away!

I seriously doubt that either of those two "negatives" is going to curtail your use of the card in any way. Swipe away!

The ultimate Christmas gift for kids teachers everywhere!

This is a very bad thing! And what about their tips, I bet the employees aren't too excited. I already spend way too much there. The card will just make it too easy.

The employees are probably very excited - because now they can make up their own tips, & 9 times out of 10 who would even know? Most people probably don't even bother to check the receipt, especially in the crazy morning rush!

Having worked at a place that added their own tips on occasion, I always check everything now.

Looks like Timmys has lucked out again.

...she's been bugging me about this every day at work since I got the card...

we weren't allowed to accept tips at all at the timmy's that I used to work at...

Well, Timmys went public last year, so if you can put together enough scratch to buy some stock, you could play the "supporting the cause" card.

Tim Hortons coffee has become the Crack Cocaine of the Yuppie generations has it not?
jamtown wrote on Dec 6, '07
Pretty much...I know I can't seem to quit it.

My problem is 2-fold: I know I shouldn't be drinking it in my 7:30 class (or any other one, for that matter) due to persistent conservative adventism, and the current drive to work is 5 minutes, which means I can't chug a hot one in that time. sigh. Ironically, I pass 2 Timmy's while going to work in that 5 minutes, only exacerbating the situation.

Leave earlier and spend some quality tim horton's time in the parking lot.

Or get a travel mug that says "Postum" or "Caf-Lib" on it and fill it with Timmies every day.

I just have to ask it again...why won't any Timmy's east of Manitoba take my debit card?? (I dared to ask this at the drive thru window once and was told that it "takes to long" to swipe the card-laughable considering the painful slowness of Tim's service. Guess Tim's own cards are coated with WD40 or something to make them slide thru the machine faster!) Long live Starbucks.

The Tim's card actually takes LONGER than a debit card, even though you don't have to punch in your PIN. The Tim's card is painfully slow at the checkout.

At least with the Tim's card they don't AUTOMATICALLY hold back a "tip" for pouring regular coffee.

I have been venturing to boycott Timmies with limited sucess due to the recent price upage for a cup of coffee. No one was going to convince me when a large was $1.39 that they were not making a healthy profit so regardless of how small the increase I am trying very hard not to go there. Donut Diner this morning but who knows how long it will last.
jamtown wrote on Apr 18
That was quite a big bump in price this time...usually when they bump the price up it's a few cents...this time it was almost 10 cents for an extra large!!

I am getting tired of burnt coffee, and a mouthful of grounds when I'm done! And really, how hard is it to STIR!!!!

Well, I'm thinking that my Tim Horton's days are almost over due to the cost (which I now know to be embarassingly high now that I see how often my Tim's card renews!). I'm thinking I'll actually start making my own soon.

Jamie, doesn't that fall under the cooking catergory? I thought you only made Lean Cuisine and Eggo's!

I am so oblivious that that I didn't not even notice the price hike until a colleague at work mentioned it...

No, no, no, silly. It's Kraft Dinner and Eggos. (As I told Tatiana, all I need is a toaster and a pot).
