for everyone

It's hard to stop with this one. Several people at once are playing with these fridge magnets...little wars of words start to happen and maybe even some cooperative spelling. I'm having a hard time shutting it down!

Just spent five minutes with a bunch of other people putting all the letters on the board into alphabetical order. It went really quick once everyone figured out what was going on. I think there's something like 15-20 sets of the entire alphabet at any given time.

And no one tried to ruin it? While I was on there was always ONE guy trying to ruin what the rest were doing (and sometimes it was me...but not always).

DO NOT give me any more things on which to waste my time... just one more thing for me to become addicted to... sigh. Thanks. :)

It looks like fun, though. Do you remember my Magnetic Poetry for the fridge? I put it back up, and Eirik has eaten several words, but I don't know which. I'll just have to wait and see...

I love the letter game but people are on now trying to make obscenities, which is juvenile and boring. Does that happen a lot?
trudyj65 wrote on Nov 29, '06
Ha! I mobilized the whole board to start alphabetizing. It's true, it's easy to get people onside. But there were letter-thieves ruining it and I got bored.
jamtown wrote on Nov 29, '06
I always try to change their obscenities into other words...so I'll hide the "F" and make "Duck" or "Luck".

Actually, that seems to neatly explain the origins of a lot of poetry. No, really.

Yeah, I managed, after some effort, to change an obscenity into the phrase "No Nukes" though later that got rearranged to "Yes Nudes."

Hmm???? Are you suggesting that great poetry is composed "on" the throne, or that it is composed "of" things from the throne....

I believe one of my favorite poems was in regards to tragedy on the pay throne. My father used to recite it to us when we were little.

Here I sit all broken hearted
Paid a nickle to...

well, I'll let you figure out the rest.

Are you suggesting
.. the latter and not the former, though mainly in jest and only a little seriously.

Bad poetry is as easy as diarrhea. It just comes out. Good poetry, well... If all artists must suffer, poets are the most tortured of all. And to bring this full circle, consider Jamie's posit: having to pass little plastic magnetic letters until you have enough for a sonnet.

Laughing out loud Allan!

What is really scary about the fridge magnets is that although I have been looking for them for quite a while, they are still not coming!!! Maybe he is saving up, but I just hope he's not saving for an epic!
jamtown wrote on Nov 30, '06
Epic? Hmmm...I always thought Chaucer was full of S*** ;-)
